SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The University of Sioux Falls women's soccer team celebrated Senior Day in storybook fashion, storming back from an early deficit to take down Wayne State 2–1. The win marked the program's first-ever victory over the Wildcats and cemented a series of new records in the Cougars' NCAA Division II era.
The Basics
Final Score: Sioux Falls 2, Wayne State 1
Date: October 19, 2025
Location: Bob Young Field — Sioux Falls, S.D.

How It Happened
Wayne State struck first in the eighth minute when Molly Riggins slipped one into the net to give the Wildcats an early lead. From there, the Cougars pushed forward, creating several chances but couldn't find the equalizer before halftime.
That all changed right out of the break. Just 86 seconds into the second half, Addison Van Zee buried the tying goal off an assist from Martina Krattley, swinging momentum back to the home side. Van Zee struck again in the 68th minute, this time slotting home a pass from Abby Flanagan and Lily Dahler, completing her brace and sealing the comeback win.
Following the match, Head Coach Joe DeMay praised his squad's composure and depth:
"What's not to love about today's game. We celebrated five amazing seniors, had a come back win that established a new program high, and set a new record for most goals scored in a season as a team and for an individual in Addi Van Zee.
On top of all that, we had people step up all over the field to influence the results. Elizabeth Schmidt stepped into midfield to dominate that part of the pitch with Chloe Wilson and Lily Dahler. Mariah Siem was constantly a target for us to play forward with Martina Krattley and Kate Stratman running the wings to get behind their backline with the ball and press the ball defensively.
Add all of that into one of the best, most cohesive performances by the backline and it created an outstanding recipe for three points to help honor the contributions of our seniors Julia Bowman, Emma Duerr, Mara Parker, Selah Tabbert, and Alivia Tindall."
