SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - USF Women's Wrestling fell in their 2025-26 home openers today falling, 28-19, to Minot State and, 25-23, to Jamestown.
SIOUX FALLS vs MINOT STATE – L, 28-19
The Beavers were open at 103- and 117-pounds as Paw Hobza and Abby Wilfong accepted the forfeits for the Cougars.
Starting off at 124-pounds, Hanah Schuster fell to Skye Shelmerdine in a 1:29 pin.
Teila Peters fell to Alyssa Jones at 131-pounds in a 5:51 pin to finish 0-1 on the day and 1-3 on the season.
Johanna Steinlicht was able to pick up the 6-3 decision over Lovey Beebe at 138-pounds. Steinlicht scored first in both periods followed by aggressive defense to hold on for the win to advance to 1-0 on the day and 7-1 on the year.
At 145-pounds, Kristy More fell in a heartbreaking 10-10 decision to Haleigh Lematta. With nothing larger than a 2-point throw from either wrestler. Lematta took the win as the last one to score. More moves to 0-1 in duals and 4-1 on the season.
Ciana Grate defeated Madison Parson at 160-pounds in a 15-4, 3:55 tech fall. Grate landed a big 5-point throw to open the match followed by a mix of 2-point throws and exposure points to seal the deal shortly into the second period.
Aliyah Villarreal wrestled up at 180-pounds, but fell to Madilyn Schuck in a 3:57 pin to finish 0-1 on the evening and 0-3 on the season.
At 207-pounds, Zoe Adam fell to Aniya Herbin in a 9-5 decision to close out dual one of the day for USF.
SIOUX FALLS vs JAMESTOWN – L, 25-23
Jamestown was open at 103-, 110-, and 117-pounds while Nina Escarcega, Paw Hobza, and Abby Wilfong all accepted forfeits.
At 124-pounds, Hanah Schuster fell to Kiera Hagman in a 3:48 pin to go 0-2 on the day while sitting 0-2 on the season.
Mackenzie Armagost fell to Nora Houglum at 131-pounds in a 3:40 pin to finish 0-1 on the day and 2-3 on the year.
At 138-pounds, Brinley Green-Griffin picked up where she left off last season with a quick 10-0, 0:46 tech fall over Abby Ewing to start 1-0 in duals and 4-2 on the year.
Ciana Grate fell to Ann Meiman at 145-pounds to go 1-1 on the day and move to 1-3 on the year.
At 160-pounds, Addaly Pals-Miller fell to Leah Willard in a 2:13 pin to finish 0-1 on the day and 0-3 on the season.
Zoe Adam returned at 207-pounds to pick up a commanding 10-0, 1:05 tech fall over Celia Jaeger to go 1-1 in duals and move to 3-3 on the season.
UP NEXT
The Cougars will hit the road to Minot next weekend to take on Dickinson State, Minot State, and Chadron State at the Beaver Bash Duals on Friday, November 21st before competing in the Beaver Bash Open on Saturday. Duals are scheduled for 10am, 12pm and 1pm on Firday with matches scheduled to start at 9am on Saturday.
USF will return home Wednesday, December 3rd to host Bismarck State and Dakota Wesleyan in the USF Duals at the Stewart Center. Duals will start at 5pm, 6pm and 7pm.
