WEST FARGO, N.D. – The University of Sioux Falls Swimming team delivered an impressive performance on the opening day of the 2025 NSIC Women's Swim & Dive Championships at the Hulbert Aquatic Center. With multiple standout performances, the Cougars closed out the day with one event champion and three all-conference performances while sitting third in team standings.

Leading the way for The Coo was Alessia Moro, who secured a podium finish in the 1000-yard freestyle, clocking an NCAA 'B' cut time of 10:18.28 to claim the crown. Teammate Sarah Knox also had a strong showing in the distance event, finishing third with a time of 10:27.41. Both Moro and Knox secured all-conference honors in the 1000-yard freestyle event.

In the 50-yard freestyle, Phini Schneider sprinted to an all-conference, third-place finish with an NCAA 'B' cut time of 23.69, while Inn She Yap added to the Cougar's scoring efforts by finishing 11th in 24.26.

USF's relay squads also made a significant impact. The 200-yard medley relay team, consisting of Isabella Perkins, Inte Pas, Emily Groom, and Inn She Yap, placed fourth with a time of 1:46.33. Meanwhile, the 800-yard freestyle relay team of Alessia Moro, Phini Schneider, Emily Aten, and Charlotte Gibbs posted a third-place finish with a strong time of 7:41.38.

Sioux Falls will look to build on its strong start as competition continues tomorrow with key events, including the 400-yard IM, 100-yard butterfly, and 200-yard freestyle with the 400-yard medley relay closing out the night. Prelims will begin at 10am tomorrow followed by diving prelims at 1pm and finals beginning at 5:30pm. Fans can follow live results and updates through the NSIC Championship website.
