4/29/2025 2:00:00 PM

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The NSIC announced their all-conference honors today while Savanna Isaacson was named the 2025 NSIC Freshman of the Year. In addition, Isaacson and junior pitcher Maddi Duncan both earned spots on the NSIC All-Conference Second Team, highlighting their exceptional contributions during the 2025 conference season.

Isaacson was a force at the plate all season long, leading the Cougars with a .381 batting average, 59 hits, and 34 RBIs across 49 games. She also tallied 14 doubles, 5 triples, and 4 home runs while maintaining a .613 slugging percentage and perfect 5-for-5 mark in stolen bases. Her dynamic presence in the infield and consistent offensive production solidified her as one of the conference's top newcomers.

Duncan anchored the USF pitching staff, compiling a 2.90 ERA over 149.0 innings pitched with a team-high 173 strikeouts. She made 31 appearances and 23 starts, notching 14 wins and throwing 17 complete games, including five shutouts. Her control and poise in the circle were pivotal to the Cougars' success throughout the season.

"This is a well-deserved honor for both Savanna and Maddi," said Interim Head Coach Madie Brink. "To step into a competitive conference like the NSIC and freshman of the year honors along with all-conference honors speaks volumes about their work ethic, resilience, and commitment to our program. Savanna, as just a freshman, showed maturity, confidence and relentless competitive effort while Maddi was a steady force for us all season long in the circle. Both are quiet leaders who lead by example—day in and day out they show up, put in the work, and elevate those around them. Their impact on this team goes far beyond the stat sheet, and we're incredibly grateful to have them representing USF Softball."

The duo's recognition by the NSIC is a testament to their hard work, consistency, and impact throughout the 2025 season. USF finished the year with a 21-29 record and looks to rebuild for the 2026 season.
