6/12/2025 12:00:00 PM

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – USF Athletics and Head Women's Wrestling Coach Toby Bryant have announced his resignation effective the end of June. After three impactful years leading the women's wrestling program, Bryant will be pursuing a new opportunity outside of collegiate coaching.

Coach Bryant has led the Cougars since the launch of the women's wrestling program in 2022, playing a foundational role in its development and growth. Under his leadership, USF has built a culture of integrity, discipline, and competitive spirit, quickly gaining respect within the collegiate wrestling community. Bryant successfully recruited a room of over 20 student-athletes and fielded a full lineup nearly immediately after launching the program.

"It has been amazing to witness the vision, growth, and success of the women's wrestling program under Coach Bryant's leadership," stated athletic director Jon Hart. "Through his strong network and work ethic, he has helped put USF Women's Wrestling on the map while serving as a passionate advocate for the sport- locally and nationally. We are deeply grateful for Toby's contributions to USF and wish him all the best in his new endeavor."

During his tenure, Bryant led the Cougars to an impressive 12-4 dual record while outscoring opponents 501-248 with one shutout along the way. Bryant helped record six NCWWC National Qualifiers, 16 NCWWC Regional Placers, 10 NWCA Scholar All-Americans and two ranked wrestlers over two seasons of competition.

"I'm incredibly grateful to the USF Administration for taking a bold step in 2022 to expand NCAA women's opportunities in our region," said Bryant. "The unwavering support from the Board of Trustees, President Dr. Bradfield, and USF Athletics has been truly remarkable. Most importantly, witnessing the daily commitment and determination of our student-athletes has been an inspiring journey. The USF community is a special place—one that has continually exceeded my expectations over the past three years."
