BURNSVILLE, Minn. – The University of Sioux Falls Men's Cross Country team enters the 2025 season with optimism, as the Cougars were selected to finish sixth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Head Coach Eric Chilson's squad is younger this year, but he sees that as an opportunity for growth and development.
"I am very excited about the men's team this year," said Chilson. "We are on the younger side, which offers exciting opportunities to many athletes. We have a fun upcoming schedule and many races that we can compete well at. This men's team is very close knit and ready to go to work every day to get one step closer to their goals."
Junior Camden Janiszeski of Luverne, Minn., was tabbed as USF's Athlete to Watch for the upcoming season. Janiszeski has battled through injuries in his first two years with the Cougars, but has remained a vocal leader within the program. He earned a spot on the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence in 2024 and recorded a 4M personal best of 20:23.3 at the Augustana Twilight. As a freshman in 2023, he competed in six meets and posted an 8K best of 26:12.3 at the Briar Cliff Invite.
"Camden has suffered some unfortunate injuries during his first two years as a collegiate athlete," said Chilson. "However, he has always stayed positive and continued to be a great vocal leader among our younger athletes. He has had a promising summer of training and seems to be ready for a breakout cross country season. I am excited to see all that he accomplishes this year."
2025 Season Outlook
With a sixth-place spot in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll, the Cougars are positioned to be competitive in a deep conference field. USF will look to blend youth and returning experience as they take on a schedule that features several challenging meets, beginning with the Augustana Twilight on September 5th.
