USF Women Win Wildcat Classic, Men Take Runner-Up Finish

Wayne, Neb. – The University of Sioux Falls cross country teams delivered standout performances at the Wildcat Classic on Friday afternoon at the Wayne Country Club. The Cougar women won the 3600-meter team title in convincing fashion, while the men earned a runner-up finish in the 4200-meter race.

Women's Race (3600m)

The Cougar women dominated the field, taking first place with just 18 points and a total time of 1:13:04.10. Senior Mallory Salazar led the charge with a demanding victory, crossing the line in 14:07.79. Freshman Anjalie Aho impressed in her second collegiate meet with a runner-up finish at 14:30.37.

Sioux Falls then stacked the top of the leaderboard with Chloe Aanenson (4th, 14:36.92), Brooklyn Koll (5th, 14:52.10), and Emma Thomas (6th, 14:56.92), locking up the team victory by placing all five scorers inside the top six.

The Cougars also showed their depth with seven more competitors inside the top 20: Faith Rustad (12th), Eva Studt (13th), Lilly McCone (14th), Cameen McFarquhar (17th), and Olivia Babler (18th). Senior Raina Weigelt rounded out the lineup in 26th place.

Men's Race (4200m)

On the men's side, USF placed second overall with 42 team points and a combined time of 1:11:02.05. Freshman Owen Janiszeski continued his strong debut season, clocking 13:54.23 to place third overall. He was followed closely by his brother Camden Janiszeski in sixth at 14:03.93, and senior Bryson Canton in seventh at 14:10.40.

Veteran leadership helped the Cougars secure the runner-up finish as senior Parker Hahn (12th, 14:19.77) and junior Chase Henderson (14th, 14:33.72) closed out the scoring five. USF also had solid displacement from Jace Cofer (18th, 14:50.34) and Hunter Hart (21st, 14:59.84), further strengthening the team finish.

Additional Cougar finishers included Josiah Schroeder (22nd), Jaylen Palmer (26th), Guta Buta (27th), Ethan West (28th), and Dylan Saur (33rd).
