USF Football Adds Weston Bridges and Jay Schlichte to Coaching Staff

8/13/2025 3:00:00 PM

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.— The University of Sioux Falls Football program has announced two impactful additions to its coaching staff ahead of the 2025 season: Weston Bridges will serve as the Running Backs Coach, and Jay Schlichte joins as the Offensive Line Coach.

Both bring a wealth of experience—on the field and on the sidelines—and a shared passion for player development, toughness, and high-level execution.

Weston Bridges – Running Backs Coach

A dynamic offensive threat during his playing days, Weston Bridges comes to USF following a successful career at Central Missouri where he helped lead the Mules to a 2023 MIAA Championship. Over two seasons, he tallied 74 carries for 376 yards, five rushing touchdowns, and two receiving scores.

Before Central Missouri, Bridges played at Michigan State, adding 16 carries during the 2018 season and beginning his college career as a nationally ranked recruit. During his high school career in Ohio, he rushed for 3,583 yards on 474 carries with 60 touchdowns earning multiple All-State honors and ranking among the top 50 running back prospects in the country.

"Weston's path through college football—from the Big Ten to winning a conference title at UCM—has given him a unique perspective our players will relate to," said Head Coach Jim Glogowski. "He understands what it means to compete, overcome adversity, and keep growing."

Jay Schlichte – Offensive Line Coach

Schlichte joins USF after a highly successful tenure at Morningside University, where he helped guide one of the most explosive offenses in NAIA football. As Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach, Schlichte's units averaged over 430 yards and 36 points per game in 2024 and 2025.

During his time with Morningside, Schlichte helped capture two NAIA National Championships and five GPAC Championships, developing six All-American Linemen and protecting back-to-back NAIA Player of the Year quarterbacks. His offensive lines also paved the way for five 1,000-yard rushers and led the country with just 21 sacks allowed in four seasons.

A former tight end at Minnesota Duluth and native of Minnesota, Schlichte also brings coaching experience from the University of Dubuque and a strong recruiting background across the Midwest and beyond.

"Jay is a proven winner," said Glogowski. "He's developed dominant offensive lines and understands what it takes to build physical, disciplined units that set the tone. He's also a great mentor who invests in his guys off the field."

With the additions of Bridges and Schlichte, USF Football continues to build a coaching staff committed to excellence, accountability, and championship-caliber performance.
