Kearney, Neb. – The University of Sioux Falls Volleyball team showed fight against a strong Missouri–St. Louis squad but came up short in a 3-1 loss (21-25, 25-21, 20-25, 18-25) on Saturday at the Rosella Meier Fall Classic. The Cougars move to 5-3 on the season while the Tritons move to 5-2.
Match Summary
USF opened with a back-and-forth first set before the Tritons closed late for a 25-21 win. The Cougars responded in set two, hitting .265 as a team and evening the match with a 25-21 victory. Despite strong efforts from the Cougar front line, UMSL regained control in the third and fourth to secure the match.

Sadie Voss paced the offense with 18 kills, 10 digs, and 2 blocks and 19 points on the day while hitting .289.

Courtney Holsteen added 10 kills at a .400 clip, while Haley Wolfe chipped in 7 kills and 5 blocks.

Elise Gillen guided the attack with 25 assists and 3 digs while Liz Kopp added 17 assists and 5 digs.

Maci Lerseth anchored the back row with a match-high 18 digs.

Ella Walker tallied 6 kills on .417 hitting along with 5 blocks.
As a team, Sioux Falls finished with 51 kills, 57 digs, and 10 total blocks, while UMSL countered with 57 kills and a .242 hitting percentage.
Up Next
USF will begin conference play at Minnesota Duluth and Bemidji State next weekend. The Cougars will take on the Bulldogs Friday, September 19 at 6pm in Duluth followed by the Beavers on the 20th at 4pm in Bemidji.
