Daytona Beach, Fla. – The University of Sioux Falls volleyball team opened its 2025 campaign in dominant fashion, earning sweeps over (RV) Flagler and Montevallo today at the Bahama House Classic.
Match One: USF 3, (RV) Flagler 0
The Cougars set the tone early with a clean 25-23, 25-11, 25-16 victory over Flagler. USF hit an efficient .341 as a team, fueled by strong offensive balance.
Aubrey Gates led the attack with 11 kills on a .381 hitting clip, while
Haley Wolfe was nearly unstoppable with eight kills on .667 efficiency and five blocks.
Sadie Voss added nine kills and seven digs, while
Courtney Holsteen chipped in six kills and three blocks.
Setters
Elise Gillen (19 assists) and
Liz Kopp (14 assists) spread the ball effectively, guiding the Cougars to a 40–27 advantage in kills.
Match Two: USF 3, Montevallo 0
USF closed the day with another sweep, downing Montevallo 25-13, 25-18, 25-27, and 25-16. The Cougars hit .252 and controlled the net with 14 total blocks.
Ella Walker shined with a team-high 10 kills on .571 hitting to go with eight blocks.
Wolfe and Voss each tallied 10+ points, with Wolfe adding 12.5 points behind eight kills and six blocks.
Gillen notched 22 assists and five service aces, while libero
Maci Lerseth anchored the back row with 17 digs
Day One Takeaways
USF's balanced offense and imposing net presence carried them to a 2-0 start. The Cougars out-killed opponents 91–62 on the day, while racking up 23 total blocks.
The Cougars continue tournament play on Saturday against MSU Denver (11:15 a.m. CST) and host Embry-Riddle (6:00 p.m. CST).
