KEARNEY, Neb. – The University of Sioux Falls Men's Wrestling team tested itself against top-tier competition on Saturday in Kearney, Nebraska, competing in a triangular that featured Newman University and No. 2 Nebraska–Kearney. The Cougars earned a convincing win over Newman before closing the day against one of the nation's elite programs, gaining valuable experience and momentum-building performances across the lineup.
Coach's Corner
"Today was a mixed day. It was nice to see us score a lot of bonus points in our first dual. We still have to get better at the little things and wrestling through positions better."
- Head Coach Matt Meuleners
Sioux Falls vs. Newman
The Cougars opened the day in strong fashion, rolling past Newman with a 34–20 victory behind six bonus-point wins and dominant performances throughout the middle of the lineup. USF jumped out to an early lead and never relinquished control, scoring pins or technical falls in six of the first eight bouts to build separation.
After trading pins in the opening bouts, Sioux Falls seized momentum with back-to-back bonus-point victories at 141, 157, and 165 pounds. Falls from Vinny Mayberry, Lincoln Fink, and Hank Meyer, paired with technical falls by Beau Beavers and Cooper Sanders, proved to be the difference as the Cougars secured the team win.

Sioux Falls vs. No. 2 Nebraska–Kearney
The Cougars closed the triangular against defending national powerhouse Nebraska–Kearney, battling throughout the dual against one of Division II's most complete lineups. Despite the final score, Sioux Falls showed toughness and competitiveness in several weight classes, including a signature win at 141 pounds and a tightly contested heavyweight bout.
Beau Beavers delivered a standout performance with a 5-4 decision over Brenyn Delano, while Stetson Davis closed the dual with a gritty 1-0 decision at heavyweight. USF continued to press the pace throughout the lineup, but the Lopers capitalized on bonus-point opportunities in the middle weights to pull away.
