USF Women’s Wrestling Battles Through Fort Hays Triangular

HAYS, Kan. – The University of Sioux Falls Women's Wrestling team continued its stretch of challenging competition on Saturday in Hays, Kansas, competing in a triangular against nationally ranked Colorado Mesa and Fort Hays State inside Gross Memorial Coliseum. Facing two experienced programs, the Cougars earned individual victories and valuable mat time as they continue to develop through the heart of the season.

Sioux Falls vs. Colorado Mesa

Colorado Mesa used early forfeits and bonus-point wins to build momentum in the opening dual of the day. The Mavericks capitalized in the lower and middle weights, but the Cougars answered with a pair of individual victories late in the lineup. Johanna Steinlicht picked up a fall at 138 pounds, while Zoe Adam closed the dual with a win at heavyweight, providing bright spots for USF against a nationally ranked opponent.

Sioux Falls vs. Fort Hays State

The Cougars wrapped up the triangular against host Fort Hays State, facing another tough test against a ranked opponent. Fort Hays built an early lead with forfeits and bonus-point wins, while USF battled through competitive matches in the upper half of the lineup. Kristy More earned a decision victory at 145 pounds, and several bouts went deep into regulation as the Cougars continued to compete through the final whistle.
