SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The University of Sioux Falls Women's Tennis team split a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matches over the weekend, earning a 5-2 victory over St. Cloud State University before falling to No. 16 Augustana University on Sunday.
The Cougars delivered a strong performance to open the weekend, sweeping doubles play and securing three straight-set singles victories to take control against St. Cloud State. USF then faced one of the top teams in the region in Augustana, competing against a nationally ranked lineup.

The Cougars set the tone early, sweeping all three doubles courts to claim the opening point.
Chloe Siegfort and Sofiya Janos led the way at No. 1 with a 6-2 win, while Sydney Osburn and Ella Hancock matched that score at No. 2. Emma Rangel and Mylin Lemke secured the No. 3 doubles point by forfeit to complete the sweep.
In singles, USF wasted no time closing out the match.
Siegfort was dominant at the top spot, earning a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 1, while Janos followed with a commanding 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2. Emily Thinnsen added another straight-set victory at No. 5, cruising 6-2, 6-1 to secure the Cougars' fourth point.
St. Cloud State picked up wins at No. 3 and No. 4, but the Cougars' early momentum proved to be the difference in the 4-2 team victory.

The Cougars closed the weekend against a nationally ranked opponent in Augustana.
USF showed competitiveness in doubles play, highlighted by a 7-5 victory at No. 2 from Hancock and Osburn. However, Augustana secured wins at No. 1 and No. 3 to take the doubles point.
In singles, Augustana proved strong across the lineup, winning all six matches in straight sets. Siegfort, Janos, Osburn, Hancock, Thinnsen, and Rangel all competed at the top of the lineup against one of the region's premier teams.

The Cougars continue NSIC play next weekend as they head to Fargo, N.D. to take on MSU Moorhead and Minnesota Duluth. USF will take on the Dragons Friday, March 27th at 7:30pm followed by the Bulldogs on the 28th at 11:30am before returning home to host Winona State and Minnesota State in their final matches before the NSIC tournament.
