Biography

CAREER: Named recipient of the Elite 18 Award by the NSIC in women’s basketball in 2017-18… was selected among 32 recipients league-wide of the NSIC’s Butch Raymond Scholarship…has been named Academic All-NSIC twice…in 79 games at USF, has made 58 starts with 327 points, 165 assists and 521 rebounds, which ranks second during USF's DII era…ranks fourth in USF's DII era in defensive rebounds at 369, and offensive boards with 152, and fourth in assists with 165…12 times in career has recorded 12 or more rebounds including career-high 14 twice…has five double digit scoring games including twice scoring 15 points…37 times has had at least eight rebounds in a game…owns three double doubles…20 times has four or more assists including career high seven.

2017-18 (JUNIOR): Named Academic All-NSIC…selected to All-NSIC Defensive Team…awarded the NSIC Elite 18 Award at NSIC Tournament for having highest GPA among those competing in the championships…also was among 32 recipients league-wide of the Butch Raymond Award….led USF to 16-13 record as the Cougars reached the league tournament semifinals for the third straight year…started all 29 games for the Cougars, ranked in the top eight in the NSIC in rebounds, offensive rebounds, assist-turnover ratio and assists… finished second in the NSIC and 15th in NCAA DII with a 2.4 assist-turnover ratio… ranked second in the NSIC and 34th in NCAA DII in rebounding (9.8 rpg)…averaged 7.5 defensive rebounds which led the NSIC…with 64 offensive rebounds, or 2.3 per game, ranked eighth in the NSIC….with 3.0 assists per game (85) ranked eighth in the NSIC…with 1.4 steals per game (38) ranked 11th in the NSIC…also averaged 6.4 ppg (178 points)… recorded three double digit scoring games…had three double doubles including career-high in points with 15 while adding 13 rebounds (eight offensive boards) in a 69-54 win over Southwest Minnesota State on Dec. 16, 2017…tied career high in points with 13 rebounds in 74-71 win at Minnesota State on Jan. 19, 2018…had 12 points and 10 rebounds against Minnesota State Moorhead on Jan. 27, 2018….recorded 14 games with double digit rebounds and 24 games with at least eight rebounds…set career-highs in rebounds with 14 twice against Winona State on Jan. 6, 2018 and against U-Mary on Feb. 2, 2018.

2016-17 (SOPHOMORE): Led USF to a 22-9 record and NSIC Tournament Championship runner-up finish…named Academic All-NSIC…had two double doubles with two double digit scoring games and five contests with double digit rebounds…had 12 games with eight or more rebounds, including a season-high of 13 against Upper Iowa on Jan. 6, 2017 while recording a career-high nine offensive boards… set career high in assists with seven on Dec. 3, 2016 against Upper Iowa while recording season-high 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting…averaged 4.6 ppg (137 points), 6.9 rebounds (206) in 30 starts…hit 54-of-152 field goals for 38.5 percent…missed all seven three point attempts…was 29-of-39 for 74.4 percent…had 87 fouls, four foul outs, 73 assists, 54 turnovers, three blocks and 33 steals.

2015-16 (FRESHMAN): Appeared in 21 games as the Cougars finished 27-6 and won the school's first-ever NSIC Tournament Championship (2015-16) while advancing to the NCAA DII Tournament for a first time … totaled 12 points, 40 rebounds, and seven assists… shot 5-of-13 from the field… scored a high of six points vs. Dakota St. on Nov. 17… recorded a high of eight rebounds vs. Presentation on Nov. 21… recorded five or more rebounds in two games… high of two assists vs. Minnesota St. Mankato on Jan. 23… appeared nine minutes in NCAA National Tournament Opening Round Game vs. Pittsburg St. on Mar. 11… contributed to the 1.37 assist to turnover ratio for the Cougars, Cougars became assist/turnover NCAA champion… contributed to USF’s program tying best 27 wins including NSIC Champions.

HIGH SCHOOL: Led Southeast Polk High School to the 2013 Iowa Class 5A State Championship and a state runner-up finish in 2014.... averaged 8.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game while shooting at a 55.4 percent clip from the field… named to the CIML All-Conference second team in 2014 and set the Iowa Class 5A State Tournament record for assists with 17 this past season… served as the vice president for the National Honor Society and earned the scholarship for the National Council on Youth Leadership.

PERSONAL: Daughter of Darren and Janel Huinker…nursing major...mother, Janel, was softball and basketball standout at Simpson College, earning Hall of Fame recognition in 2002...her dad, Darren played football and baseball at Central College while brother Payton ran track at Wartburg College and brother, Logan plays at football at Central College.
