James Borges is in his first season as an assistant coach with the University of Sioux Falls Baseball program in 2017.Borges will serve as the infield coach and Head Coach for the JV team.
A native of Southern California, Borges was recruited in 2008 to play baseball by former USF head coach Matt Gulliano and he also played under current USF head coach Grant Hieb. Borges was a three-year starter (2008, 2009, 2010) for the Cougars, earning all-conference honors as a junior and senior, and he was recognized with a Gold Glove award by the conference in his senior season.

Borges attended Fallbrook Union High School in Fallbrook, Calif., where he was a three-year varsity letter and he received all-conference honors in all three years and received recognition as Player of the Month for all of San Diego County. Following high school, Borges continued his baseball career at Palomar Community College in San Marcos, Calif. After completing his baseball career at USF, Borges received his Bachelor’s Degree in areas of business, wellness and social science from the University of South Dakota.

In addition to his responsibilities with USF Baseball, Borges serves as the Assistant Director/Assistant Sr. Legion Coach for Brandon Valley Baseball Association, he is a personal trainer and plays State-A amateur baseball for the Sioux Falls Brewers. He currently resides is Sioux Falls, SD with his wife Caitlin.
