A right-handed pitcher who has been a steady part of the Cougar pitching staff, Jake Pruchniak has appeared in 29 career games with 18 starts across three collegiate seasons. Over 83.2 innings, he has compiled 74 strikeouts while continuing to provide valuable innings in both starting and relief roles for Sioux Falls.
2026 (Junior)
Pruchniak appeared in 10 games with five starts for the Cougars, logging 26.2 innings while striking out 23 batters. He posted a 6.41 ERA and delivered several strong outings, including a five-strikeout performance against Emporia State and 3.1 scoreless innings with four strikeouts against Winona State. He also earned a win at Minot State after tossing 3.2 innings in relief. For his work in the classroom, he was named to the NSIC All-Academic Team.
2025 (Sophomore)
Appeared in nine games with eight starts, posting a 3-3 record across 33.2 innings with 26 strikeouts.
2024 (Freshman)
Made 10 appearances with five starts in his first collegiate season, recording a 1-3 record with 25 strikeouts across 23.1 innings.
High School
Pruchniak was a standout baseball player during his prep career, earning First Team All-State honors three times. He set multiple school records, including career strikeouts, single-season strikeouts (88), single-game strikeouts (18), and single-game home runs (3). He also threw the only perfect game in school history.
