Biography

Career
A catcher who joined the Cougars after time at Dakota County Technical College, Justin Johnson made an immediate impact in his first season at Sioux Falls as one of the team’s top offensive and defensive contributors. In 42 starts behind the plate, Johnson batted .278 with 40 hits, 37 RBI, 27 runs scored, eight doubles, one triple, and seven home runs while posting a .994 fielding percentage.

2026 (Junior)
Johnson emerged as a key everyday contributor for the Cougars, starting all 42 games he appeared in behind the plate. He batted .278 with 40 hits, including eight doubles, one triple, and seven home runs, while driving in 37 runs and scoring 27 times. His top offensive performance came at St. Cloud State, where he went 3-for-5 with two home runs and six RBI. He also posted a three-hit performance against Jamestown and multiple four-RBI outings during the season. Defensively, Johnson was outstanding behind the plate, recording 300 putouts and 29 assists with a .994 fielding percentage while helping control the running game.
