Andrew Gray

Andrew Gray is in his first season as the defensive ends coach for the University of Sioux Falls Football Team.

Originally of New Lenox, Ill., earned second team All-Missouri Valley Conference honors for the University of South Dakota. Gray, who had 221 career tackles, was named to the Buck Buchanan Award Watch list in October. In 2018, he earned back-to-back MVFC Defensive Player of the Week honors and was named National Defensive Player of the Week after a 35-28 USD win over No. 24 Missouri State. He started 11 games in 2018 and 13 in 2017 when he was second team All-MVFC honors. In 2018 Gray led the Coyotes with two interceptions and was the third leading tackler with 76 while breaking up six passes. He had a career-high 14 tackles in a win over Southern Illinois. In 2017, he led USD with 89 tackles with 50 solo stops, 5.5 tackles for loss and a sack. He also set a program record by returning an interception 97 yards for a TD. As a sophomore, he played in all 11 games with starts in the final eight games. He had 32 solo stops and 56 tackles.

He is the son of Ken and Chrissy Gray. Andrew, who earned an undergraduate degree in physical education, played at USD with his twin brother, Alex, who is a coach at Bemidji State.
