Devin Mines is in his first year as the assistant coach for cornerbacks for the University of Sioux Falls Football Team.
Mines, originally of Charlotte, N.C., comes to USF from Gardner-Webb (N.C.) where he was a four-year starter as a defensive back. During his stellar career with the Bulldogs, he accumulated 200 career tackles, 12 tackles for loss, nine forced fumbles along and three interceptions.
Prior to joining Gardner-Webb, Mines played at Mallard Creek High School (N.C) under Coach Michael Palmieri. He helped Mavs to a 14-2 record and its third consecutive Class 4AA State Championship in 2015. He totaled 98 tackles, 12 pass breakups and two interceptions as a senior. He also had five tackles for loss and four forced fumbles. As a junior, he totaled 89 total tackles (71 solo), two interceptions and 11 pass break ups for the Mavericks. He also scored two defensive TDs, including one of 100-yards. He also had a 67-yard interception return. As a junior, he helped the Mavericks to a 15-1 record and the Class 4AA State Championship, the program’s second in a row.Â
