Jim Glogowski

Jim Glogowski enters his fourth season as the head football coach at the University of Sioux Falls in 2026 after being named the 22nd head coach in program history on December 9, 2022.

Glogowski has guided the Cougars through steady growth during his first three seasons, helping USF return to the top half of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. After taking over the program in 2023, he led the Cougars to back-to-back winning seasons in 2024 and 2025, including an 8-3 campaign in 2024 that saw USF finish tied for second in the NSIC standings. Through three seasons, the Cougars have produced 26 All-NSIC selections, one NSIC Defensive Newcomer of the Year, one D2CCA All-Super Region honoree and multiple weekly and monthly award winners.

During the 2025 season, Glogowski led USF to a 7-4 overall record and a 6-4 mark in NSIC play. The Cougars averaged 30.6 points per game while totaling 4,767 yards of offense, including 2,877 passing yards and 1,890 rushing yards. USF averaged 433.4 yards per game, converted 49.3 percent of its third-down attempts and controlled possession for more than 33 minutes per game. The Cougars also limited opponents to 177.3 passing yards per game and forced 13 fumbles.

The 2025 season featured several standout individual performances, including Hank Brown Jr. earning First Team All-NSIC and D2CCA All-Super Region Second Team honors. Camden Dean, Mouhamed Diawara, Adonis Hutchinson, London Kolb, Caden Maas, Ben Pederson and Bubba Tann III each earned Second Team All-NSIC recognition. USF also had an NSIC Offensive Player of the Week in Tate Schafer.

Academics have also remained a priority under Glogowski’s leadership. Since his arrival, USF football student-athletes have earned 78 NSIC All-Academic Team honors, 41 NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence selections, 22 CSC Academic All-District Team honors, 26 D2 ADA Academic Achievement Awards, and two NSIC Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction honors.

Before coming to Sioux Falls, Glogowski spent seven seasons at Minnesota State, where he served as associate head coach, defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. During his time in Mankato, Minnesota State developed into one of the top defensive programs in NCAA Division II. In 2017, the Mavericks held opponents to 15.4 points and 274.4 yards per game while allowing just 70.8 rushing yards per contest. MSU ranked second in the NSIC in total defense and rushing defense and third in sacks, while seven defensive players earned All-NSIC honors.

The Mavericks continued their defensive success in 2018, allowing 17.0 points and 300.0 yards per game while advancing to the NCAA Division II semifinals. In 2019, Glogowski was named the NSIC Assistant Coach of the Year after helping lead a defense that ranked among the top 10 nationally in total defense, rushing defense, scoring defense and fourth-down conversion defense.

In 2022, Minnesota State finished 10-3 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs. The Maverick defense held opponents to 114.7 rushing yards per game, forced 21 fumbles with 11 recoveries, recorded 29 sacks and limited opponents to a 33.0 percent conversion rate on third down.

During his tenure at Minnesota State, Glogowski coached multiple All-NSIC performers and helped develop All-America honorees including Zach Dodge, Evan Perrizo and Ty’Shonan Brooks.

Prior to Minnesota State, Glogowski served as the head coach at Simpson College for eight seasons from 2008-15. He led the Storm to 37 wins, including a pair of second-place finishes in the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. His 2013 team finished 7-3 and featured quarterback Taylor Nelson, who was named the IIAC Most Valuable Offensive Player.

Glogowski’s coaching career also includes stops at the University of South Dakota, Allegheny College, Clarion University and Augustana. He spent four seasons at South Dakota, including two as defensive coordinator, and helped guide a Coyote defense that ranked fifth nationally in NCAA Division II against the run in 2006.

A former standout student-athlete at South Dakota, Glogowski was a four-year starter at strong safety and linebacker. He earned Don Hansen All-America honors in 1995 after recording 91 tackles, including 21 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. He also earned All-North Central Conference honors and was named the NCC’s Most Valuable Defensive Back. Glogowski was inducted into the Coyote Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.

Glogowski earned his bachelor’s degree in education and master’s degree in health and physical education from the University of South Dakota. Jim and his wife, Kate, are the parents of four children: Jacob, Madeline, Benjamin and Samantha.
