Michael Maxwell, who was a standout receiver for the University of Sioux Falls from 2016-18, will serve as an Assistant Coach for Running Backs for Head Coach Jon Anderson.
He will assist the offensive coordinator in all aspects of the offense which includes coaching running backs. Maxwell will also assist with camps and other duties as assigned. He was a 2019 graduate of USF in business administration.
Originally of Richmond, Texas (Terry HS), Maxwell finished his career with 69 receptions for 977 yards and seven TDs during two years at USF in 2017 and 2018. He earned All-NSIC second team honors in 2018. after recording three 100-yard receiving games. Maxwell finished his career with 1,187 all-purpose yards on 102 plays for 11.64 yards per play. While at USF, he led the Cougars to a 16-7 record and berth in 2017 NCAA DII playoffs. In 2018, he served as a team captain and finished with 41 catches for 729 yards and four TDs. In 2018, he recorded 100-yards receiving in three straight games, which was a first at USF since Jeremiah Oates did it in 2012. In 2017, he has 28 catches for 248 yards and three scores. Â
Before transferring to USF, Maxwell was named Wide Receiver of the Year in 2016 at Laney College after recording 34 receptions for 450 yards with three TDs for the Eagles. Maxwell starred at Terry High School in Richmond, Texas, hwere he was a three sport standout in football, track and basketball. Twice named to All-Academic Team twice (2013, 2014), he had 987 rushing yards and 12 TDs in 2014. He was named all-region and two time all-conference (2014-15) in basketball, also earning team MVP honors. He is the son of Tasha Williams and has two brothers Jacquizz and James Rodgers, who played at Oregon State. Jacquizz played in the NFL with Atlanta and now with Tampa Bay. James is now director of player development at Oregon State after signing with Atlanta Falcons of NFL as an undrafted free agent and played with Montreal Alouettes of the CFL.
