Redshirted during his freshman season at USF.

High School

At Jefferson High School in Sioux Falls, DaShawn competed in football, track, and powerlifting for the Cavaliers. He helped lead the team to a South Dakota State Championship and was named to the South Dakota All-State Team. In addition to football, he was a two-time state champion in powerlifting. During his football career, he recorded 49 tackles, including eight tackles for loss and one forced fumble.
