Biography

CAREER: Three-time Academic All-NSIC honoree...received All-NSIC honors in 2017...recipient of NSIC Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction Aeard for 2017-18 (3.75 GPA or better)... named to Don Hansen All-Region team as a kick returner...in his career, helped lead USF to a 41-8 record, four postseason berth and three DII playoff berths in past three years as well as an NSIC title in a 12-1 season in 2016... in career, spanning 33 games, registered 2,072 all purpose yards, including 1,225 rushing yards, 213 receiving yards, 312 punt return yards, and 322 kick return yards...finished with nine career TDs, including seven by rushing...had 25 catches for 213 yards with a long of 52 yards...finished with five 100-yard rushing games.

2017: Selected All-NSIC second team...earned third straight Academic All-NSIC honor... named recipient of an NSIC Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction Award for 2017-18 (3.75 GPA or better)...helped lead USF to a 9-3 record and fourth straight postseason berth, third in the NCAA DII playoffs...selected kick returner on Don Hansen All-Region squad...averaged 9.8 per punt return (32-312-2 TDs), which ranked sixth in the league...had a pair of punt return TDs, going 42 yards against Minnesota-Duluth and 66 yards vs. Minnesota-Crookston...also averaged 18.4 yards on seven kickoff returns...led the Cougars with 1,443 all-purpose yards, which ranked third in the league with 120.3 yards per game. ...had a standout season at running back, ranked fifth in the NSIC with 217 carries for 958 yards (79.8 ypg)) and six TDs...had five 100-yard rushing games including eight carries for 101 yards and a TD vs. Minnesota Crookston; 25 carries for 125 yards and a TD against Concordia St. Paul; 29 carries for 154 yards and a TD in the "Key to the City" win over Augustana; 26 carries for 120 yards in the win over Upper Iowa and 37 carries for 136 yards against Minnesota State... inthe 24-20 playoff loss to #5 Midwestern State, played huge with 96 yards on 26 carries and 128 all-purpose yards.
 
2016: Named Academic All-NSIC... played role for NSIC top rushing team, which ranked third nationally at 308.1 yards per game and won NSIC title with 12-1 record, 11-0 in league play...part of offensive line that paved way for All-American Max Mickey to rush for a school record 1,764 yards, which ranked third nationally, and 8.6 yards per carry, which led the nation...also helped two others rush for over 800 yards (Luke Papilion, 987 yards, 7.5 yards per carry; Justin Fulks, 812 yards, 6.5 yards per carry)...part of offense that had second best total in school history with 6,647 yards, 511.3 per game for seventh in DII and school record 4,005 y State (9/17)...had four carries for 15 yards in a win over Upper Iowa (11/5)...had five carries for 16 yards in the win over Wayne State (11/12)...had one carry for four yards and one kickoff return for 15 yards in playoff victory over #24 Azusa Pacific...also saw action against #5 Harding in the DII overtime playoff loss.MInot nationally in scoring at 39 points per game...played in nine games...has 29 carries for 75 yards with a long of 15 yards...caught one pass for nine yards...had four kickoff returns for 79 yards, including long of 23 yards...averaged 19.8 yards per kickoff return...had nine carries for season-high 33 yards with his only reception for nine yards against 17th.

2015 (REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE): played in 12 games… totaled 54 rushes for 192 yards and one touchdown… touchdown vs. Mary on Sep. 5… recorded 12 carries for 45 yards vs. Wayne State on Oct. 3… recorded 64 yards rushing vs. Concordia St Paul on Oct. 31 on nine carries… had 13 receptions for 160 yards… had a high of 61 yards receiving vs. Winona State on Oct. 10… had a longest reception of 52 yards vs. Mary on Sep. 5… also recorded 10 kick returns for 114 yards… recorded 466 all purpose yards on the year… earned NSIC All-Academic Team

2014 (REDSHIRT FRESHMAN): transitioned from defensive back to running back during spring drills...recorded four carries for 69 yards and a TD (56 yards) in Spring Game while leading White team over Purple Team, 21-9 at Bob Young Field.

2013: Redshirted

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Thornton Township…played four years of football for the Wildcats…tallied 50 tackles, 9 INT, 3 FF, 2 FR and 1 TD to earn all-area honors…two-time Southwest Suburban Red Conference all-conference performer…IHSA Academic all-state…also four-year baseball letterman...played basketball for one season...member of NHS, Thornton Scholar and student council.

PERSONAL: Son of Latonya and Rodney Towns…born Oct. 8, 1994...has two brothers, Jamal and Steven and one sister, Mekiala…criminal justice major.
