High School: Starred at Roosevelt HS for coach Kim Nelson at quarterback…two of his teammates (Alex Capell, Nathan Durfee) also signed with USF…played on team that advanced as far as state 11AAA semifinals three straight years, including twice in state title game at the DakotaDome (2013, 2014)…served as team captain as a senior…named Academic All-State and to the Argus Leader Elite 45 Team…selected All-City Team Captain and named to All-Metro Conference and honorable mention all-state… other awards include KSFY-TV Taco Johns Athlete of the Week, ESPN 99.1 Player of the Week, and Character Counts Athlete (3.95 GPA) at Roosevelt High…named Most Improved Offensive Player in 2014 as a junior…as junior was 65-of-119 for 1,070 yards and 15 TDs passing…had 97 carries for 469 yards and eight TDs rushing…caught five passes for 119 yards and a TD… named Offensive MVP in 2015 after completing 107-of-179 passes for 1,516 yards and 17 TDs passing and recording 79 carries for 627 yards and nine TDs in seven games…totaled 52 total TDs in career…completed 179-of-314 passes for 2,700 yards and 34 TDs passing with 183 carries for 1,105 yards and 17 TDs rushing in career… also played baseball and basketball in high school…

Personal: service work includes Character Counts in elementary schools, helping in a church program for three-year olds and Peer Tutoring as well as serving as youth basketball and football instructor…son of Tim and Sue Thune…has two brothers Nick and Logan, who plays baseball at Nebraska.
