High School

Leonard competed in football, basketball, and track at Auburn High School. He was named a NIC-10 All-Conference Wide Receiver after tallying 71 receptions for 1,088 yards. Defensively, he recorded 41 tackles and eight interceptions.

He is the son of Tiffany Barracks and Leonard Spates and has one sibling, Jackie.
