Marla O'Bryan is entering her fifth year as an Athletic Trainer at the University of Sioux Falls in 2026-27. She currently works with the Cougar women's wrestling, women's tennis, and track and field programs, primarily supporting the team's runners and throwers.
As an Athletic Trainer, O'Bryan is responsible for injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, emergency care, and return-to-play progression for her assigned teams. She works closely with coaches, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to support the health, safety, and performance of Cougar student-athletes.
Throughout her athletic training career, O'Bryan has worked with student-athletes in women's basketball, football, baseball, men's and women's soccer, men's lacrosse, swimming, tennis, women's wrestling, and track and field.
Prior to joining the University of Sioux Falls, O'Bryan provided PRN summer athletic training coverage at James Madison University. She also spent a year with Avera Health, working with the USF morning clinic and providing coverage at Ben Reifel Middle School.
A native of Mendham, New Jersey, O'Bryan earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Sciences and a Master of Science in Athletic Training from Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Virginia. She lived in Bridgewater for approximately a decade before relocating to Sioux Falls in 2021.
O'Bryan holds a Master of Science degree and is a Board of Certification Certified Athletic Trainer and Licensed Athletic Trainer, carrying the professional credentials MS, ATC, and LAT. She is also a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and the South Dakota Athletic Trainers' Association.
