Career
A dynamic scoring guard for the Cougars, Taylen Ashley has appeared in 55 games with 53 starts over his first two collegiate seasons, totaling 1,734 minutes while averaging 31.5 minutes per game. Ashley has scored 793 career points at a 14.4 points-per-game clip, shooting 42.4 percent from the field, 36.2 percent from three-point range, and 67.7 percent from the free-throw line. He has also contributed 194 rebounds, 170 assists, 32 steals, and three blocks, establishing himself as one of the Cougars’ most consistent offensive weapons.
2025-26 (Redshirt Sophomore)
Ashley elevated his game in his second season on the floor for the Cougars, appearing in 26 games with 24 starts while leading the team with 16.0 points per game. He logged 830 minutes (31.9 per game) and scored a team-best 415 points, shooting 43.3 percent from the field with 51 made three-pointers and 58 free throws. Ashley also averaged 3.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists per contest while adding 17 steals. He posted seven 20-point performances and delivered some of the season’s biggest moments, including a career-high 36-point outing against Augustana, where he knocked down seven three-pointers in a rivalry thriller. He also scored 30 points twice against Wayne State and dished out a season-high eight assists at Augustana. His strong sophomore campaign earned him NSIC Athlete of the Week honors and recognition as the Dave & Buster’s USF Athlete of the Week.
2024-25 (Redshirt Freshman)
Taylen Ashley played and started in all 29 games, proving to be a key contributor for the Cougars. He averaged 31.2 minutes per game and totaled 378 points on the season, scoring 13.0 per game. Ashley shot 137-of-331 from the field, 57-of-152 from beyond the arc, and 47-of-64 from the free-throw line. He also contributed across the board with 3.4 rebounds per game, 88 total assists (3.0 per game), 15 steals, and one block. His standout performances included season highs of 24 points against Chadron State and Concordia-St. Paul.
2023-24 (Redshirt Season)
Ashley was a member of the USF Basketball team while redshirting during his first season with the program.
High School
A multi-sport athlete for the Cavaliers, Ashley competed in basketball, football, and track. On the hardwood, he was a four-time letter winner and surpassed 1,000 career points. He earned First Team All-Metro Conference honors twice, was named First Team All-State as a senior, and was a Second Team All-State selection as a junior. His senior season saw him average 16.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game.
Ashley was recognized as one of the top players in the state, earning a spot on the Sanford Pentagon All-Star Team and being named a Sanford Pentagon Player of the Year finalist. He also competed in the 3-Class Shootout AA Team and was a Hansen Anderson Mr. Basketball finalist. Additionally, he played with SD Attack, further honing his skills against top competition.
Personal
Taylen is the son of Alvin and Stephanie Ashley and has one sister, Shaunteva. He was also a member of the National Honor Society.
