Erin Houser

Erin Houser

Erin Houser begins her first season as an assistant coach with the USF Softball program in 2017 after a standout career in Sioux Falls.

A native of Papillion, Neb., Houser was a three-year starter for USF’s crosstown rival Augustana, where she compiled a career .282 batting average, including a breakout sophomore season in which she batted .322 with seven extra-base hits. In her career, Houser tallied 88 hits, with 13 extra-base hits and 16 stolen bases while posting a .974 fielding percentage as a mainstay in the outfield.

A redshirt freshman on Augustana’s 2012 NSIC Championship squad, Houser played an important role as they advanced to the NCAA Division II Women’s College World Series, with USF head coach Kelsey Thompson on the Vikings’ coaching staff. The former Erin Kempf, she graduated from Augustana in 2015.

“Erin’s high school and collegiate background are second to none and we greatly look forward to her brining that experience to our staff and our student-athletes,” Thompson says of Houser. “It was a pleasure coaching Erin collegiately at Augustana and watching her grow and develop into a great teammate and phenomenal leader in the outfield.  Erin’s ability to teach outfield, hitting, slapping and work with our speed game will help us continue to grow and work to become a top contender in the NSIC and Central Region.  The intangibles Erin brings off the field will also help our student-athletes grow and develop into well-rounded students that thrive here at USF.”

Erin and her husband, Trevor, reside in Sioux Falls.
