Kyle Halfpop is entering his third consecutive season and fifth overall with the Cougars. Halfpop came to USF with more than eight years of coaching experience, most recently serving as head coach for the Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles.
In the 2024 season, the USF Soccer team finished the season 2-15-1 and 13th in conference standings. They also had 2 student-athletes awarded NSIC All-Academic Team honors and 14 awarded All-Academic Team of Excellence honors.
A native of Urbandale, Iowa, Halfpop has ties to the Sioux Empire, serving as Academy Director and Competitive Coach for the Dakota Alliance Soccer Club from 2013-15, which included a State Cup Championship in 2014. After his stint with Dakota Alliance, Halfpop earned his first head coaching stint at Iowa Wesleyan, an NCAA Division III program and member of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.
Before his time with the Dakota Alliance, Halfpop was an assistant coach at his Alma mater, Central College, from 2008-2012. In addition to his duties as an assistant coach at Central, he was the technical director for the Pella Soccer Club in Pella, Iowa, from 2008-2013.
Halfpop, who owns a National US Soccer Federation ‘D’ Coaching license, excelled as a player for Central College. A four-year letter winner, he earned team MVP honors his junior and senior seasons, during which time he also captained the Dutch each year. Halfpop was a three-time all-conference honoree and earned All-West Region honors during his senior season.
