USF Women's Basketball Tuesday Preview 
The 
University of Sioux Falls women's basketball will host former NAIA foe, Mayville State University, Tuesday at 7p.m.

Series
Tuesday
will be the sixth meeting between USF and Mayville State in women's basketball
since 2002. The Cougars hold a 4-1 advantage, winning three straight dating
back to 2006. Their most recent meeting came last season (12/18/10) when Laura
Johnson and Vanessa Johnson teamed up to lead USF to a 78-62 win at Mayville
(box on page 4).

State Up North
Mayville
State University will be USF's fourth opponent from the state of North Dakota
this season. The Cougars are 5-0 on the year against institutions that reside
in North Dakota.

USF
turned their most impressive shooting performance from behind the arc Saturday,
when they tallied 15 3-pointers in their 77-37 rout of Trojans at Dakota State
University. The Cougars are averaging 9 makes per game from downtown where they
are shooting 33% this season.

Court Advantage
Home
court has proved to be advantage for the Cougars. They are 5-1 at the Stewart
Center this season and carry a 20-2 record vs. non-conference opponents at home
under coach Traphagen.

No Rookie
Freshman
guard Jaicee Ulmer did played with the poise of a veteran in Saturday's game at
Dakota State University, where she led the Cougars in points, assists and
steals. She posted a game-high 17 points, four assists and three steals, all of
which were career highs. 
Making
Every Minute Count
Her minutes may be
down, but senior forward/center Elizabeth Hildreth has embraced her role as the
first player off the bench this season. USF most recent player to join the
1,000 point club has been nothing short of efficient, scoring 7.3 points and
4.7 rebounds (3rd on the team) in just over 16 minutes per game. She is
currently ranks first on the team in field goal percentage (48%) and is also
tied for first in block with 14 on the year.

a Shooter
Hailey
Longtin has proven herself as a deepball threat for Mayville State, recording
61 3-pointers in 23 games this season. Even more impressive, she is shooting a
40% clip from downtown.
Common
Opponents
Like
USF, the Comets have faced Dakota State (split series 1-1), S.D. School of
Mines & Technology, Valley City State University and Jamestown College.
However, the Cougars boast a 6-0 record against those common opponents, while Mayville
has gone 1-4 with their lone victory coming over Dakota State, a team USF
recently defeated by 40 points.
Climbing
the Charts
Senior
forward Jamey Hofer continues to climb USF all-time scoring list. With the
conclusion of last week's games, she has moved to No. 8 all-time with 1257
career points. 
Four
Straight
With
10 points against Dakota State, Alyssa Rushton recorded her fourth consecutive
game scoring in double-digits. She tied her second highest total as a Cougar
Thursday at the University Nebraska-Omaha, where she tallied a team-high 15
points in a losing effort.

Vanessa
Johnson and Laura Johnson accounted for nine of the 12 3-pointers USF poured on
Mayville State to pick up a 78-62 win at Lewey Lee Fieldhouse.
USF
finished shooting 41% from the field, while holding Mayville State to 35% on
the game. The Cougars also held the rebound advantage, 37-30, pulling 11 down
from the offensive glass.
The
Cougars won a close battle at the free throw line, where they connected on 82%
of their attempts in comparison to 79% shooting by the Comets. 
Laura
Johnson recorded a game-high 17 points and seven boards, while Vanessa Johnson
posted 16 points. Elizabeth Hildreth added nine rebounds, which was also a
game-high.
