USF Suffers 2-0 Setback to Bemdiji State

The USF women's soccer team fell to NSIC foe Bemidji State on Sunday by a score of 2-0. With the loss USF falls to 1-8-1 (1-5-1 NSIC) and Bemidji State improves to 7-3-0 (4-3-0 NSIC) on the season.

The Beavers took the lead in the fifth minute of the game when Maria McLead made a pass to teammate Stephanie Challes who put the ball in the right side of the net.

The Cougars had chances to tie the game in the first period as they put up four shots on goal. However, the Beavers Sonja Barr turned USF away as she recorded four saves in the first 45 minutes of action.

In the final period USF chalked up eight shots, but were unable to convert those attempts into goals.

USF's Tionne Webb received a yellowcard in the 75th minute which resulted in the Beavers second and final goal of the day off of a Carly Dietrich free kick.  

Senior Corrin Cook recorded nine saves for the Cougars which brings her season total to 51 saves.

The Cougars will return to action this weekend as they face NSIC opponents Winona State and Upper Iowa. The matches will both take place at the USF Sports Complex.
