SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Head Coach Kelsey Thompson announced the addition of Dominique Soto of Rio Rancho, New Mexico to Sioux Falls Softball's 2015 signing class. Soto joins Kerrigan Hoshaw, Emily Hove, Brianna Painter, and Natalie Wilson, who signed in the fall with the Cougars.
“We are beyond excited that Dominique will be joining us in the fall,” Thompson said. “Se defines everything we want this program to become and will help us elevate our grit, determination and drive to lead this team to future championships.”
An infielder/outfielder for Rio Rancho High School, Soto comes from a winning culture that she helped create. Soto was named to the 2014 All-State team after leading the Rams to the 2014 New Mexico State Championship and consecutive Metro League Championships.
In her senior year, Soto is batting .515 with nine extra-base hits. She has driven in 14 runs and worked eight walks to just two strikeouts. Showing her speed, Soto has stolen 17 bases and scored 30 runs during her senior season.
“Soto plays for a premier high school and premier travel team in New Mexico that have known nothing but success built from work ethic and attention to details both on and off the field,” Thompson said. “Dominique has the ability to come in and impact this lineup immediately at a variety of positions. Her pure skill combined with her drive and mental ability have us extremely excited to see her in a Cougar uniform next fall!”
