Cougars tied D2 record, continue to lead NCAA pole vaultingSince the NCAA began sponsoring both men's and women's pole vault in 1999 only two programs have qualified seven pole vaulters for the NCAA Championships. USF accomplished that feat this season, equaling Abilene Christian's five men and two women advancing to the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Championships. Over their four years as a Division II member, USF has advanced 40 pole vaulters to the NCAA Championships and earned 17 All-American honors, leading NCAA D2 in both categories. Sioux Falls has crowned two national champions in Brigitte Gross (2014 Indoor women's champion) and Jagger Gran (2015 Indoor men's champion), one of four programs to have multiple champions during the Cougars' tenure in Division II.
Veteran groupNot only has every vaulter USF qualified for this meet already appeared at an NCAA Championship meet, but the vaulters have a combined 10 All-American finishes among them. Jagger Gran and Scott Greenman have not missed an NCAA Championship since they joined the USF program, and each of them has three All-American honors to their name. Kimberly Peterson is making her fourth straight appearance and teammate Courtney Crandall is attending her fourth NCAA meet. Both had All-American finishes at the 2015 indoor championships. Sophie Harano will finish her USF career at her third NCAA Championship, seeking her second All-American honors. Jacob Zebedee and Chase Jensen both made their first NCAA Championship appearance at the 2016 indoor championships, where Zebedee collected his first All-American honors.
