SIOUX FALLS – The University of Sioux Falls Tennis Team lost for the first time this year in a 9-0 setback to Minnesota State on Sunday at the Huether Family Match Pointe. The Cougars dropped to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the NSIC. MSU is now 1-2 overall and 1-1 in league play.
"We kept a lot of points alive today but we were beat by a talented opponent," said USF head coach
Kevin Grebin. "We will continue to work hard and look ways to improve as a squad," he said.
For the first time this year, seniors
Abby Seigenthaler and
Kara Bunkers dropped singles matches in falling to 3-1. Bunkers battled Melissa Mashburn of MSU before falling 7-6, 1-6 and 10-7. Aside from losing 6-0 in singles, the Cougars had a tough day in doubles. Seigenthaler and Bunkers lost for the first time at #2 doubles by a 8-4 count as they stand 3-1 on the year and 23-4 overall as a doubles team.
Next weekend, USF will travel to Bismarck, N.D., to face U-Mary on Saturday, Feb. 18 and MSU Moorhead on Sunday, Feb. 19.
