USF WBB closes regular season at Concordia-St. Paul & Minnesota State

SIOUX FALLS – In their final regular season games of the 2016-17 season, University of Sioux Falls Women's Basketball looks to secure a home game for the first round of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference/Sanford Health Tournament. USF faces off with Concordia-St. Paul (17-9, 13-7 NSIC) on Friday, Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. before traveling to Mankato, Minn. for the regular season finale against Minnesota State (15-9, 11-9 NSIC) on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 4 p.m.
 
How to watch/listen
All of USF's home games and NSIC contests will be streamed live via Stretch Internet and are available at USFCougars.com/watch. Veteran broadcaster Tom Frederick will broadcast both games on KWSN AM 1230 or FM 98.1 with pregame starting 15 minutes prior to tip-off each night. Playoff push: Cougars can clinch home game in NSIC/Sanford Health Tournament with win over CSP
Sioux Falls's two losses over the weekend tightened the race for a top-four seed in the NSIC south division as five teams are separated by two games. In the middle are the Cougars with a 13-7 record in NSIC play, which ties them with Wayne State and is one game behind Augustana and Winona State. USF can clinch a home game with a victory over Concordia-St. Paul on Friday, ensuring the tiebreaker would be in USF's favor.
 
Series history – Concordia-St. Paul– CSP leads 7-3
USF had a three-game winning streak against Concordia-St. Paul snapped with a 62-51 loss earlier this season. Overall, the Cougars trail CSP 7-3 in the series, which began when USF joined the NSIC in 2012-13. On the road, USF is 1-3 against the Golden Bears, winning their last road game by a 64-49 margin last season. The Cougars opened the series with six straight losses to CSP, but a double-overtime USF victory on Feb. 21, 2015, broke that streak with an 87-79 win. The Cougars recorded two wins over CSP last season before that three-game win streak was halted in a slow-shooting night earlier this year.
 
Series history – Minnesota State – USF leads 5-4
With four consecutive wins, three of which by double digits, Sioux Falls took back the series lead over Minnesota State and it currently leans 5-4 in favor of the Cougars On the road, USF is 1-3 at Minnesota State with last year's 66-64 win serving as the only road victory for USF. USF toppled MSU, 77-64, in the first ever meeting with MSU on Dec. 15, 2012, but dropped the next four contests. After their four-game skid, USF reeled off four wins by an average of 11.5 games. Earlier this year, Brooke Smith scored 22 points as USF had four score in double figures, including a double-double from Sam Knecht.
