BISMARCK – Following some tweaks in the lineup, the University of Sioux Falls Tennis Team put together an impressive performance in moving to 4-1 on the season, including 2-1 in NSIC play, after a 6-3 decision over U-Mary on Saturday.
The Cougars had a 4-2 edge in singles and put together a 2-1 advantage in doubles to pick up the win over the Marauders for a second straight season.
"We moved some of our players around and they all responded with a fantastic effort today," said USF head coach
Kevin Grebin, whose squad will face MSU Moorhead on Sunday morning, also in Bismarck, N.D. "Everyone really played well with
Cortney McCans winning a three-set tiebreaker. We had a really solid effort in singles with those four wins and almost had another at #1 with Kylie (Simons). Plus our realigned doubles had strong efforts today. Lot of happy faces here," he said.
In doubles, sophomore

Kara Bunkers played at #1 for the first time and captured an 8-5 victory. The Cougars had another win with a new doubles tandem as
Abby Seigenthaler and
Tianna Duda also took an 8-5 decision.
In singles, the Cougars were led by seniors Bunkers and Seigenthaler, who both moved to 4-1 with wins at #3 and #4, respectfully, in straight sets. At #2, Duda moved to 3-2 with a straight set win. At #6
Cortney McCans improved to 2-0 by rallying for a victory in three sets. She held off two set points and captured the final set 13-11 in a dramatic win. Simons lost a tussle at #1, falling in three sets, including 10-7 in the tiebreaker.
