BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Looking to get on the team score board on the second day of the NCAA Championships, University of Sioux Falls Swimming narrowly missed advancing to the final of the 200-yard freestyle relay on Thursday morning.
The Cougar foursome of
Ingelin Lima,
Allison Eppinga,
Maike Doerr and
Kyjana Webber turned in a 1:34.88 in the prelims of the second of three relays in which they will compete at the NCAA Championships. USF finished 18th of the 34 teams in the relay, missing the B Final by 0.10 seconds.
Lima led off with a 23.84-second split and Eppinga followed in 23.59 seconds. Doerr clocked a 24.08-second split in the third leg and Webber posted the fastest USF split in 23.37 seconds.
The Cougars return to the pool for the third day of the NCAA Championships with Eppinga swimming in the 100-yard backstroke. Prelims are scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. at the Birmingham CrossPlex and the 100 back prelims will be the third event contested, following women's and men's 500 freestyle qualifying.
