WINONA, Minn. -- The University of Sioux Falls Tennis Team (7-7, 3-6 NSIC) dropped a 9-0 decision to Winona State (10-5, 7-2 NSIC) in NSIC play on Sunday afternoon.
"I thought we played our hearts out but the critical points went the other way," said USF head tennis coach
Kevin Grebin. "I thought we played hard and battled all day," he said.
While USF lost, 6-0, in singles, the Cougars lost two matches in the third set, including at #4 where Kendra Kappes defeated
Abby Seigenthaler, 3-6, 6-2, 10-2. At #5, Tayla Card of WSU edged
Cortney McCans, 2-6, 6-1 and 10-4. At #1 USF's
Kylie Simons battled but loss 6-3, 6-4 to Kaisey Skibba; and, at #6, WSU's Katie Scrubbs edged
Marie Schmitz by winning key points late in both sets of a 6-4, 6-4 victory
