Bunkers and
Abby Seigenthaler concluded their careers at USF with a 9-7 victory over Megan Anderson and Drew DeCorsey of UMD. With the victory, Bunkers and Seigenthaler, who have been playing on the same team since they were in the 7th grade in Sioux Falls, improved to 6-3 on the season and 3-2 in league play. In their careers, they had a 26-6 overall doubles record.
"I am appreciative of the great leadership that Kara (Bunkers) and Abby (Seigenthaler) exhibited all season on a young team," said USF head coach
Kevin Grebin. "They finished their career at USF winning in doubles, which is reminiscent of what they did for four years. They battled this weekend in winning two really hard fought doubles victories. It was great to see them have fun and finishing with a positive result," he said.
Besides winning at doubles, Bunkers also won her final match at #3 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Anderson. As a result, she finished her season at 8-7, including 6-5 in league play. She was 30-17, 22-11 in NSIC play, during her career.
Abby Seigenthaler lost a hard fought match in #4 singles, falling to Kelsey Zetah of UMD, 7-6 (12-10 tiebreaker) and 6-3. She finished her season at 8-7 and 5-6 in league play while finishing her career 9-9 in singles.
Freshman
Tianna Duda finished her initial season at USF with a victory. In defeating DeCorsey, 7-5, 6-3, she improved her record to 7-9, including 4-7 in league play.
"I have said this before but I am really proud of the effort and performance all season by this team," added Grebin. "They improved every day and always battled, worked hard, and maintained their focus while competing. It is a team with a solid future," he said.
