SIOUX FALLS— In their season opening meet, the University of Sioux Falls Swimming Team set a pair of records and cruised to a 164-112 victory over Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opponent U-Mary on Saturday afternoon at the Midco Aquatic Center. USF won 13 of the 14 swimming events as Cassandra Wright was a four-event winner.
Wright continued her dominance from her impressive All-American freshman season by winning three individual races and four overall titles that highlighted her speed. Wright and teammates

Ella Johnson, and
Jenna Krahn teamed up to win the 200-yard medley relay by more than four seconds (1:48.11). Â Wright also captured the 100 breaststroke (1:05.33) in school record time; the 200 back (2:05.70) by more than nine seconds; and the 200 IM (2:11.08).The 100 breaststroke time ranks eighth nationally while the 200 backstroke is also eighth in the nation. And, Wright's time in the 50 back in 200 medley is the best clocking in DII.
Also for USF, Alexandra Sanchez-Clark won the 1000 freestyle (10:47.82).
Giulia Marcon took first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.98), and Lizzy Spaans and Giovanna Bario finished first and second in the 100-yard backstroke (58.91 and 59.71). Marcon also won the 100 freestyle (53.65) and captured a third title as a member of the winning 200 freestyle relay (Krahn, Marcon, Bario,
Nina Groene, 1:40.26).Â
Kasch finished second in the 100-breaststroke (1:06.55) and registered the best time in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:24.06), which lowered her own school record.  Johnson and Evelyn Van De Mark finished one-two in the 200 butterfly with clockings of 2:08.62 and 2:17.51, respectively. Johnson also won the 100 butterfly (58.95). Krahn finished first in the 50 free after posting a time of 24.50. Â
In the 500 free, U-Mary notched their lone first place finish with Victoria Murillo finishing in a final time of 5:12.34. USF's
Nina Groene finished just behind Murillo in second place with a time of 5:20.64.
The USF Swimming team will next travel to Minnesota State on Friday, Oct.26 for a 5 p.m. meet.
