ST. JOSEPH, MO. – In a highly competitive meet among teams from the Midwest, the University of Sioux Falls Men's Golf Team is 12
th in team standings after shooting a 596 (297-299) on 36 holes on day one of the Missouri Western State Holiday Inn Express Invite at the St. Joseph (Mo.) Country Club. USF and the other 19 teams at the invite will complete the final round with a shotgun start on Tuesday (Oct. 8) at 9 am.

For the third time this season, the Cougars have carded a two-round total under 600. USF's 28-over par two-round total of 596 today ranks third best for the team this season. Through the first day of competition, the USF Men's Team was consistent with the five team members scoring from 147- to 154 while recording 113 pars and 15 birdies.
USF was led by junior
Jacob Zosel, who was coming off his first-ever medalist performance in winning the Augustana Invite last week. Today, he was again sharp with rounds of 73 and 74 placing him at a team-best 147 and tied for 34
th overall. Both senior
Brenden Bassing and sophomore
Jack Evans finished at a six-over par 148. Bassing had a team-high six birdies while totaling 19 pars on the day. In a field of over 120 individuals, Evans opened at 75 and finished strong with a 73 in round two for his six-over par total of 148. He finished with 23 pars and three birdies on the day.
Tied for 66
th was senior
Blake Berry, who carded an 11-over par round of 153 with rounds of 75 and 78. He had two birdies and 24 pars. In addition, senior
JJ Cooney is 73
rd after a 12-over par total of 154 included rounds of 75 and 79. Cooney had a birdie and secured a team-best 25 pars.
Leading the team standings is Central Missouri, which carded a 566 (277-289). In second place is Winona State with a 568 (293-275).
