ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Led by a career-best performance from freshman
Jack Evans, the University of Sioux Falls Men's Golf Team is seventh after day one at the Lindenwood Invitational at the Missouri Bluffs Golf Club.
USF, which was among 19 teams playing two rounds on day one, tied a season-best two-round total of 605 (299-305) and stand seventh in team points. Lindenwood, which was led by individual leader Markus Lindgren with a 139 (71-68), leads the tourney with a 580 (294-286).
After Lindenwood, SE Oklahoma is second at 584 (291-293) followed by Central Oklahoma, 596 (291-298); Missouri Western State, 596 (298-298); Central Missouri, 599 (302-297); Winona State, 601 (310-291) and USF four strokes back at 605.
Evans, who has had two top-10 finishes this year, is tied for 10
th with a career-best two-round total of 145. He opened with a 75 and had a 70 in the second round and sits three over par.
Junior
JJ Cooney is tied for 17
th with a seven-over pass 149 (75-74). With rounds of 75 and 74, Cooney now has nine rounds of 75 or better this year.
Sophomore
Jacob Zosel is tied for 41
st with a two-round total of 12-over par 154 (72-82). Junior
Brenden Bassing is tied for 53
rd with a 15-over par 157 (77-80). Also for USF, junior
Blake Berry is a 22-over par 164 (78-86). Sophomore Jake Oetzman is tied for 95
th with a 30-over par 172 (87-85).
On Tuesday, the Cougars will play their final round with tee times starting at 8 a.m.
