DES MOINES, IOWA –
Emma Hertz set a school record in the women's discus throw to highlight many standout performances as members of the University of Sioux Falls Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Teams competed in the Drake Relays and the Kip Janvrin Open on Friday (April 26).
Women's Recap
Drake Relays:
Hertz continued her stellar junior season as she set a new school record by placing sixth in the women's discus throw with a NCAA DII provisional mark of 49.51-meter (162' 5"). Hertz broke her previous record of 49.34-meters (161' 10"), which she set at the USD Challenge on April 6.
The 4X100 relay team of
Kanya Henderson,
Sarah Troescher,
Mercy Oyadare and
Chloe Peterson placed 14
th at the Drake Relays with a 48.38 clocking.
In the 4X400-meter relay, the squad of Oyadare,
Jasmine Harris,
Chloe Peterson and
Taryn Ceglowski ran a season best time of 4:06.89, which placed them 28
th in the event.
Kip Janvrin Open:
In the high jump,
Taylor Stoltz was sixth after leaping 1.55-meters (5' 1") while teammate
Brynley Bower took 13
th after clearing J1.50-meters (4' 11").
Marya Schiltz posted a seventh place height of J3.10-meters (10' 2") in the pole vault.
Clara Paul placed ninth in the triple jump with an 11.05-meter (36' 3") leap.
Men's Recap
Drake Relays:
USF's distance continent continued to shine with big performances Friday. At the Drake Relays, the 4X1,600 relay squad of
Billy Beseman,
Jase Kraft,
Zach Lundberg and
Mason Phillips took second with a time of 16:40.16. USF finished only behind Oklahoma State and by less than a second (16:39.79) for first place. Air Force's relay team came in behind USF and was third with a 16:40.31 showing.
In the men's 1,500-meter run, junior
Zach Lundberg took sixth with a 3:51.27 clocking while Kraft logged a 10
th place finish after running a time of 3:54.14..
Kip Janvrin Open:
At the Kip Janvrin Open,
Trey Furgeson claimed fourth in the men's 400-meter dash with a 49.33 clocking.
In the triple jump,
Cooper Wood placed fifth with a 13.50-meter (44' 3.5") leap while teammate
Casey Hackett was seventh by going 13.19-meters (43' 3.25").
Jake Persen claimed seventh in the pole vault after going 4.05-meters (13' 3.50").
Logan Hansen took ninth in the men's 800-meter run after a 1:55.68 showing.
In the high jump,
Joseph Kirkebak tied for ninth with at 1.85-meters (6' 0.75").
USF will next compete tomorrow (April 27) in both the third and final day of the Drake Relays as well as the Gustavus Adolphus Drake Alternative Meet.
