USF Softball's Emily Miller named to the NSIC All-League Team

Miller earns her first career all-conference honor

BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Senior Emily Miller of the University of Sioux Falls Softball Team has been named to the All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference squad as announced today by the league office. Miller, who helped lead USF to a 23-28 record (13-17 in league play) and a sixth straight berth in the NSIC Postseason Tourney, earned her first All-NSIC honor as she was selected to the second team.

Miller, who has appeared in 82 games while starting in 69 throughout her career at USF, has enjoyed a strong end to her senior campaign. Originally of Aberdeen, S.D., has hit 10 career home runs with nine this season. Over the last 18 games, she has posted a .446 batting average with 25 hits in 56 at bats. She has also produced a .946 slugging percentage with eight home runs and four doubles while also driving in 17 RBI and scoring 15 times.

Over the past 18-games, Miller has raised her season batting average from .164 to .283. This season, she has played in 43 games with 41 starts. Miller has recorded 32 hits in 113 at bats with 25 runs scored and the nine home runs, all in league play, with 25 RBI. Miller, who ranks fourth with home runs in league play (nine) has a .566 slugging mark, .361 on-base percentage and has been solid in the field with 33 putouts and 66 assists against seven errors for a .934 fielding mark.

For her standout performance against Concordia-St. Paul, MSU Moorhead and Northern State, Miller was awarded the NSIC Player of the Week honor on April 16 as USF won five of six contests. During those three series, Miller logged a .444 batting average over the six-game span going eight-for-18 as USF won five of six contests. Miller blasted five homeruns, drove in eight runs, scored seven times and drew four walks. Miller posted an on-base percentage of .522 and a slugging percentage of 1.278. With a two-homerun game against NSU, she tied a school game record which has been done 17 times by eight different players.

After earning the No. 10 seed, Miller and her USF teammates will begin the 2019 postseason with the NSIC Tournament on Thursday, May 2 when they face No. 7 seed Minot State at 10 a.m. at Rochester, Minn.
