BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- Program-best 81 student-athletes at The University of Sioux Falls Athletic Department have been named to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference All-Academic Team for the 2019 spring season, according to an announcement today from the league office. The 81 student-athletes honored represents the most during spring period in USF's DII era.
With 81 named this spring, along with 58 in the fall and 68 more in the winter season, Sioux Falls has placed a total of 217 USF student-athletes on the NSIC All-Academic list during the 2018-19 year or 37 more than 2017-18. USF's total of 81 was part of 749 student-athletes, or 10.8 percent, recognized among the 16 league schools for the 2019 spring athletic season. Of the 391 league-wide named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence (3.6 GPA or better), USF had 45 representatives or 11.28 percent of the league total.
"We are extraordinarily pleased and proud of our student-athletes who were honored this spring and all year long," said USF Director of Athletics
Pam Gohl. "USF student-athletes excel at a high level in competition and the classroom while also fulfilling a mission in community service. We are exceptionally pleased with their dedication to their respective sports and their commitment to studies," she said.
USF's total of 81 student-athletes is the highest number athletes of Cougars honored by the conference since they joined the NSIC in 2012-13.
