NORFOLK, Va. – For the third straight year, the University of Sioux Falls Women' Swimming Team has had student-athletes named Scholar All Americans, according to an
announcement today by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (
CSCAA).

Last week,
USF earned a College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Award for a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The USF Women's Team, which placed third at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships and a program-best 20
st at the NCAA DII Championships, registered a GPA of 3.47. Today, USF had four student-athletes named Scholar-All Americans and another named honorable mention.
The four student-athletes named Scholar All-America athletes included two-time honorees Chantal
Kasch (sophomore, Stade, Germany, psychology and criminal justice),
Giulia Marcon (sophomore, Juiz De For a, Brazil, psychology and art),
Cassie Wright (sophomore, Christchurch, New Zealand, business administration) along with first-time honoree
Elizabeth Spaans (freshman, Brandon, S.D., psychology and social work). Sophomore Nina
Groene (Vernheim Germany, mathematics) was selected honorable mention for a second straight year. In three seasons, USF Swimming, now under the direction of head coach Chris
Hamstra, has had 14 Scholar All-America athletes and three other student-athletes earn honorable mention Scholar All-America honors.
In total the
CSCAA selected 1,221 swimmers and divers from 190 teams to its Scholar All-American Team in 2019. To earn the Scholar All-America honors, student-athletes must have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and competed at their respective NCAA/NAIA/
NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
In addition, 890 students earned honorable mention honors. These students have similarly achieved a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a "B" time standard or competed at an NCAA Regional or Zone Diving qualifier. In total, 282 teams placed at least one individual on the first or second teams.
