Leah Eagleton, who served as a team captain for two years, has been named the assistant swimming coach at the University of Sioux Falls, according to an announcement by USF Head Coach
Chris Hamstra on Monday, June 1.

Leah Eagleton return to the program as our graduate assistant. Her familiarity with the University of Sioux Falls and our program will allow her to hit the ground running," said Hamstra. "Leah will be working with all training groups to give her the best background in training theory and application as she prepares to enter the swim coaching ranks. Additionally, she will have an extensive role in recruiting high quality, driven and courageous student athletes to USF," said Hamstra, whose team earned a third straight third place finish at the NSIC Swimming Championships in just the fourth year of the program.
Originally of Auckland, New Zealand, Eagleton will be involved in all phases of USF's nationally ranked program. She will assist with daily practices, recruiting, videotaping, home meet management, fund raising, student-athlete academic success, travel, compliance and other duties related to the sport of swimming.
Eagleton, who earned a pair of All-NSIC honors at the NSIC Championships in 2019-20, was named to the NSIC All-Academic Team three times and was named in 2019-20 to the NSIC Academic Team of Excellence. She helped USF earn a top-15 national ranking from the CSCAA for dual strength as the Cougars completed its first-ever undefeated dual season at 8-0. In fact, USF was ranked from the preseason and throughout the course of the 2019-20 season.
At the 2020 NSIC Championships, Eagleton played a key role in helping the Cougars earn a third straight third place finish at the NSIC Championships with a record 797 points. Individually, Eagleton was seventh in the 100-free (52.59) and 13
th in the 50 free (24.37). She earned All-NSIC honors as part of the 200 free relay, (1:34.26) and the 400 free relay (3:27.38), which both placed second. In addition, Eagleton was part of the sixth-place 800 free relay (7:45.98) and the eighth place 400 medley relay (3:56.78).
She graduated from USF on May 17, 2020 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and Psychology.
