USF vs Wayne State ends in a draw 1-1 on Alumni Day at the USF Sports Complex

SIOUX FALLS – In the 11th match of the season, the Sioux Falls Soccer Team ends in a draw 1-1 after double overtime vs Wayne State on Sunday afternoon.
On the windy and sunny day, the Cougars hosted the 2020 seniors on Alumni Day, who were celebrated before the match being thanked by our fans, players, and coaches for all their hard work and dedication to the Cougar soccer program.

The Cougars and Wildcats exchanged field position for a little over the first 25 minutes of the match today. It was in the 27th minute when Wayne State struck first when Abby Sutton assisted on the first goal of the match by Madison Kemp which put the Wildcats up 1-0.  The two sides continued to trade field position for the next 15 minutes of the match, when Olivia Valdez ended up with the assist on Sarah Miller's goal to put the Cougars on the board to tie up the match 1-1 right before the half.

The Cougars had five shots on the day by Kassidy Graber, Grace Held, Julia Kreutner, Molly Coverley, and Sarah Miller. On the defensive end, Holli Knudsen was in goal today and  played all 90 minutes, had a lot of great saves on 13 shots faced today, improving the goalkeeping save percentage to .867 on the season.

The Cougars will be back in action next Friday when they host Northern State at 6 p.m. at the USF Sports Complex.
