SIOUX FALLS – In the 13
th match of the season, the Sioux Falls Soccer Team comes away victorious, 1-0 at home against Minnesota State Moorhead on Senior Day! The Cougars pick up points in both matches after going 1-0-1 during conference play this weekend.
On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, the Cougars took on the MSUM Dragons on Senior Day. The match started with the Cougars connecting on passes, being aggressive in the offensive third by drawing some fouls, and notching the first and only goal of the match at the 17' mark.
Kelsey Oswald was credited for the assist, connecting on the foot of
Grace Held who put it into the back of the net. That ended up being the only goal of the match as the Cougars continued to put the pressure on throughout the duration of the match.
For most of the second half, the Cougars and Dragons exchanged field positions, stopping each others corner kick attempts (USF 5 to MSUM 4) and watching a closely contested match in front of a great crowd on Senior Day. The Cougars had five shots on the day, lead by
Grace Held with four and
Kassidy Graber with the other shot. On the defensive end, Senior
Alexis Wemhoff lead the defensive end of the field with another shutout performance, improving the team goalkeeping save percentage to .882 on the season.
Alexis Wemhoff improved her save percentage to .906 with the shutout win on her Senior Day. She's continued to lead by example in net for the Cougars throughout the season and they'll look to build on their Senior Day victory in the weeks ahead.

The Cougars (2-8-3, 2-5-3) will be back in action next Friday when they head to northern Minnesota to face off against Minnesota Crookston on Friday October 22 and Bemidji State on Sunday Oct 24.
