SIOUX FALLS – In the 16th match of the season, the Sioux Falls Soccer Team fell to #25 Minnesota State Mankato 2-1 in overtime, in NSIC action on Friday night at the USF Sports Complex.

The first half saw a lot of great defensive action on both ends, ending the first 45 minutes of play in a 0-0 draw at the half. It was Mankato who would strike first and got on the board on a penalty kick at the 52' mark by Brynn Desens. For the next 27 minutes of play, we saw a lot of that same defensive play on both ends, great saves by both goalkeepers, and it was in the 80th minute when the Cougars tied it up. Ivory Donald assisted on a goal by Sarah Miller with 10 minutes left to play.

The Cougars and Mavericks held each other at bay 1-1 and we headed into the overtime period. The overtime was brief, as Allie Williams put together a nice pass which connected on the foot of Jenny Vetter to put the Mavericks up 2-1, ultimately ending the match under the golden goal rules of overtime play.
